Gene Expression Research
Studying the gene expression profiles of organisms at various ages is a powerful tool for longevity research. It can demonstrate how an organism changes with time from a gene network regulatory perspective. Gene expression analysis can also provide insight into how the organism reacts to the accumulation of damage with time.
One particularly useful application of gene expression is in stem cell research. It is known that stem cells show signs of aging and that their numbers and effectiveness decline with age.
